About

Elizabeth Joy Stewart

I have learned to listen closely to my intuition and internal guidance. This awareness has paved a path of serendipitous breadcrumbs - which led me to the Pacific Northwest and becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist.

It was here in Washington that I met my husband of 15 years, and counting. Together, we’re raising a tween and a queer teen. Quality time with them, and close friends, is my love language. We enjoy playing board & card games and being on/in the water. My ‘social battery’ recharges through meditation and being in nature.

Balancing the roles of partner, parent, daughter, friend, student, employee, volunteer, and colleague is no small task. These lived experiences deepen my empathy and reinforce my commitment to cultivating healthy, intentional relationships—both personally and professionally.

I recognize that life’s stressors can feel overwhelming—especially when adequate coping skills or relational support are limited. My approach as a systemic therapist honors the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. The Inuit word Isumataq, meaning “the keeper of the sacred space where wisdom can reveal itself,” best describes my presence in sessions.

As a therapeutic partner, my intention is to create a safe, collaborative therapeutic space where we can explore fears, vulnerabilities, relationship challenges, and life transitions - supporting greater resiliency, healthier coping, breaking dysfunctional patterns, transforming the perception of stress and getting “unstuck”.
