About
Gabe Martinez
I believe therapy is a healing space where we can open up about things that may feel burdensome, explore new understandings of our stories, and expand into new possibilities and ways of showing up in the world. Carl Rogers said that “the good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” I affirm this belief, and seek to be a therapist who is committed to walking with you towards new directions in life.
My own journey into personal therapy began with deep questions and concerns I had during a challenging and profound period of transition. Through therapy, I was met with acceptance and patience, and could further explore the questions and fears that I had felt would be unwelcome in other settings. I have a passion to work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating substantial questions around relationships, identity, and meaning in their lives. My goal is to offer you the same caring and understanding presence that I experienced as you move along your path of healing, reflection, exploration, and growth. As the child of a Cuban immigrant, I also seek to provide care that is culturally attuned, sensitive to your unique cultural background, and honors family migration stories.
Outside of this work, one of my great joys in life is being a musician. Music and art has been a healing place to process experiences and emotions when words sometimes seem insufficient. I love playing drums and guitar, and working on all sorts of music production and performance projects. I enjoy exploring new places, both near and far, and learning about cultures wherever I go. I believe meeting the world with curiosity and openness expands my ability to live in harmony with others. I also love film, reading, learning about religion and philosophy, spending time with friends and family, walking outside in nature, and pausing to enjoy an electric orange sunset whenever I see one.
