About

Tay Stütz

I am an actor, a dancer, a singer, an athlete, a mindful-meditative-movement facilitator, a dog dad (5 furry friends), and a curious human (my family calls me "button pusher") hugely invigorated by the journey of becoming a therapist. I was born in Bellevue, WA, and grew up training and working as an actor in the musical theatre community in Seattle. I was fortunate to continue my learning and performance endeavors at the University of Miami Conservatory of Theatre Arts in Coral Gables, FL, from which I received my BFA summa cum laude in Musical Theatre with a minor in psychology. I like to think of acting as embodied anthropology, a journey where one deeply explores another person's inner and outer world. It is a complex adventure of empathy, compassion, and curiosity in action. I bring these understandings into my work as a therapist.

Right in the middle of my BFA training at UM, my family and I experienced a collective near-death experience and we all survived but experienced grievous physical-emotional-spiritual issues.

My recovery was the beginning of an awakening for me. I wasn't able to move vigorously, so I decided to read some books on philosophy, self-development, and positivity. I eventually found yoga philosophy and yoga classes, in which I developed a powerful sense of community and personal well-being.

Once I graduated, I traveled the country and some places internationally as a performer and yoga teacher, eventually settling down in Los Angeles for about five years. I moved back home in 2019 to care for my grandpa, who was suffering from complications of brain cancer at the time. I thought I would move back to LA, but life presents interesting, wonderful redirections if we are open to riding the waves. I am so happy to be on this journey of becoming a therapist at Stories of Hope. Thank you for reading this! May you breathe easy and enjoy something you love a little extra today.
